PESHAWAR
The concern forum under the supervision of social cohesion network has finalized first-ever Kalash Marriage Act to provide legal cover to Kalash tribe’s customs and traditions, especially those related to marriages in the community.
In this connection, the network in collaboration with Pakistan council of world religions and faith friends organized its fifth meeting to review the draft.
According to a statement, the meeting reviewed the update status of the act and further steps were deliberated in details.
The meeting was informed that the final bill has been drafted after several and lengthy consultations and workshops in Chitral and Peshawar.
The proposed legislation were completed after the consent of the more than 43 Qazi,s of Kalasha Community including male and females.
The consultation process was attended by the consultant Ijaz Mehmood, special assistant to the Chief Minister Wazir Zada.
It added that after necessary preparations for sound legislation, the draft of the proposed bill would be presented to the provincial cabinet for formal approval.
The concern forum has handed over the draft of the bill to special assistant Wazir Zada. He appreciated the development and pledged that the provincial government would take all steps to provide legal protection to all minorities of the province.
After it accorded approval from the cabinet, the statement said, Kalash Marriage Act 2022 would be tabled on the floor of KP Assembly.
