Providing water to citizens is a top priority

Mardan
A nine member’s delegation of water and sanitation services company Mardan (WSSCM) visited a historical and renowned Municipality Budapest Water Works (BWW) at Hungary. The purpose of the visit was knowledge sharing, capacity development, exchange of technical expertise and partnership to strengthen both of the institution.
The delegates inspected the various sections of the Budapest water works including complaint cell, customer services, billing and revenue, information and technology and water supply.
The delegation led by Chief Executive Officer WSSCM and Deputy Commissioner Mardan Captain retired Abdur Rahman while chief financial officer Naveed Akhtar, Manager HR and Admin Imran Afridi, Manager Planning & Projects Imran Zaman, Deputy Manager Customer Relations Rahatullah, Assistant Manager Water Supply Faraz Ahmad, Assistant Manager Billing and Revenue Muhammad Sohail, Assistant Manager Waste Water Management Ikramullah, Assistant Manager HR Muhammad Faheem included.
Program is financed by Europe Union and implemented by Global Water Operator Partnership Alliance under UN Habitat.
After passing through tough international competitive process, the project of partnership with Budapest Water Works, Water and Sanitation Services Company Mardan and Water and Sanitation Agency Lahore was approved after a two stage selection process.
CEO WSSCM Abdur Rahman said that with support of Budapest Water Works WASA Lahore and WSSCM staff will be trained in customer services training, information technology system, SCADA system and reduction of non-revenue water.
He said that this program will improve the service delivery of providing clean and safe water to the citizens of Mardan.
Europe Union Water Operators program is aimed at contribution towards SDG-6. With a focus on Non-revenue water, capacity building and community awareness raising. Rahman added
The Project will usher in improvement of water supply system in Urban Union Councils of Mardan city” He added.
