KHYBER
Provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa(KP) has misused its power of allocating funds to the councilors of merged districts and maximum funds have been distributed to the Tehsil Mayors and Village Councils(VC) chairmen on political basis.
This was stated by the Tehsil Chairman, Landi Kotal Haji Shah Khalid while addressing to a press conference here in local press club on Friday.
He said that out of approximately 30 Tehsil Chairmen across the merged districts, only five of them who have political affiliation with Pakistan Tehreeke Insaf(PTI)have got funds that is injustice.
The basic aim of the local bodies is to shift powers to down level and it’s the basic right of every single citizen of the country to be part of the development projects, he remarked.
Flanked by more than a dozen VC chairmen Haji Shah Khalid said that development funds should be given irrelevant to political association.
In Accelerated Development Program (AIP) funds allocate for localities keeping in view certain indicators like area, number of people etc however ironically the incumbent provincial government in AIP 2 has granted 280 million rupees to PTI parliamentarians in Bara while Landi Kotal and Jamrud subdivisions have received 120 million rupees.
In the same way Bara has got 220 million rupees in the form of irrigation projects while Landi Kotal and Jamrud have obtained 50 million rupees.
Unelectable elements use development funds for their personal interest in the merged tribal districts that is equllent to denying the position of the electable village councillors, he argued.
They threatened that if justice is not made with them, they will utilize all forums including indefinite agitation against the KP government to get their rights.
