PESHAWAR
Pakhtun Students Federation (PSF), student wing of Awami National Party (ANP), belonging to Islamia College University staged a protest against the imminent threats to the party senior leadership from outlawed groups.
Scores of students under the banner of PSF gathered outside the Peshawar Press Club (PPC) and chanted slogans against the provincial government and demanded security for their leaders.
It is pertinent to mention here that ANP provincial president Aimal Wali Khan and general secretary Sardar Hussain Babik have received threats from outlawed terrorist groups for openly speaking against the rising incidents of terrorism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Moreover, a few days earlier, the law enforcement agencies have informed NAP leadership that they have intercepted some communication of outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) plotting to assassinate them.
The protesters demanded of the provincial government to take necessary measures for the protection of ANP leadership and take decisive action against the terrorists involved in hurling threats to the party leadership.
Political leaders who raise their voices for peace cannot be intimidated by such reckless tactics, students are standing by their side, they added.
PSF office bearers warned that ANP provincial president Aimal Wali Khan was the red line for the party workers and supporters.
“The provincial government should take steps to rein in the terrorists instead of paying ransom,” he maintained.
Central President of PSF Malik Ehtesham, Provincial General Secretary Noman Sher, Provincial Spokesperson Musa Khan, Provincial Finance Secretary Shahab Rehman, President of Islamia College University Gul Hassan, General Secretary Arya Khan Mohammadzai, Senior Vice President Abid Afghan and former Chairman Ali Khan Rajar Samit Islamia College Peshawar officials and workers participated in large numbers and addressed the protest rally.
