Governor Shah Farman, Minister Kamran Bangash sent legal notices to Arbab Muhammad Ali
PESHAWAR
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders locked horns with each other right after the first phase of local government election results.
The ruling party candidate’s defeat in Peshawar mayorship election generated a heated debate over the merit of ticket awarding process. After the Kamran Bangash, Minister for Higher Education, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Governor Shah Farman also sent a legal notice to its own party leader Arbab Muhammad Ali over the allegation of selling the Peshawar City Mayor tick to Rizwan Bangash, PTI candidate for Peshawar mayorship election.
Arbab Muhammad Ali had alleged that Governor Shah Farman and the provincial minister Kamran Bangash had sold the mayor’s ticket for Rs70 million.
A day earlier, Kamran Bangash had sent a notice to Arbab Muhammad Ali arguing that the later has harmed his reputation by leveling allegation of taking Rs20 million for committing favoritism in the process of awarding ticket to Rizwan Bangash.
Arbab Muhammad Ali, brother of PTI Member of National Assembly (MNA) Arbab Sher Ali and nephew of Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Arbab Shehzad, in a video circulated on social media, had alleged Shah Farman and Kamran Bangash for selling the most important ticket of Peshawar city mayorship to Rizwan Bangash for Rs70 million.
It may be mentioned here that Arbab Muhammad Ali is PTI leader and also served as former Nazim Town III.
Sources in the party claimed that Mr Arbab was vehemently waiting to secure party ticket for Peshawar mayorship election but failed to do so as the party awarded ticket to Mr Rizwan.
The rift among the party leadership surfaced soon after Rizwan Bangash failed and the seat of Peshawar City Mayor was grabbed by JUI-F candidate Zubair Ali with a narrow margin.
In his statement in the video, Arbab has demanded a transparent probe into the process of ticket awarding to candidates, especially the ticket for Peshawar mayor.
