Public Hearing EIA Rorya Sewarge Treatment Plant

A Public hearing was conducted by Environmental Protection Agency for Environmental Impact Assessment under Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cities Improvement Project funded by Asian Development Bank for the rehabilitation of sewerage treatment plant (STP) at UC Rorya Mardan.
The Project has been framed for the efficient and optimal management of sewerage and sanitation problems of six urban union councils of Mardan included Bicket Gunj, Baricham, Guli Bagh, Hoti, Muslimabad and Rorya.
Under this project the household’s sewerage connections will be connected through sewer networks with STP to treat and reuse of waste water for the irrigation purpose.
Deputy Director EPA Faridullah Shah stated that the event has been organized to record the grievances if any from the residents of the project catchment area to avoid any inconvenience to ensure the project success.
Dr. Abdul Qayum Technical Expert briefed the participants regarding the design, layout and infrastructure of the proposed project.
Manager Planning and Projects WSSCM Imran Zaman said that this project is of immense importance for Mardan city. He added that this project will cater the issues related to sanitation and management of waste water.
All the participants and elected representatives assured that they will positively support the project.
The hearing was attended by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cities Improvement Project Director Ameer Alam Khan, General Manager WSSCM Engineer Muhammad Khalil Akbar, Assistant Directors EPA Muhammad Israr, Riaz Khan, Additional Assistant Commissioner Mardan Junaid Khalid and elected representatives.
