Peshawar University Teachers Association (PUTA) has announced to boycott supervising and evaluating the research work of M.Phil and Ph.D. students until the university pays their outstandings.
According to the PUTA, the university should order the release of funds for the evaluators and pay all their dues, adding that it has also been decided to stop fresh admission for research.
“The future of more than 600 scholars is endangered when the PUTA decided the strike after the national and international researchers time and again requested for the payment of their funds,” PUTA said, adding that the act was damaging the image and reputation of the University of Peshawar (UOP).
They warned that no professor was ready to check the pending theses of any scholar without the payment and there are a number of research theses of the scholars pending with them. PUTA warned that they would not admit any more M.Phil and Ph.D. students and would not take classes until the evaluators are paid.
PUTA had a long meeting with the Advance Study board (ASB) on 5th October 2020 and decided that the evaluators would be paid on time, but no professor has been paid so far, they said.
