KHYBER
A protest camp against merging of ex-tribal regions was set up at bypass road, Jamrud on Sunday.
Initiated under the banner of Qabail Tahaffuz Movement (QTM) people from different walks of life participated in the protest camp.
Speaking on the occasion QTM leaders including senior vice-President Sardar Asghar Afridi, Daud Qabalistani, Malik Muhammd Hussain, Malik Abddurrazaq, Afrasiab Afridi, Hazrat Wali and others under a planned conspiracy, former tribal agencies had been unlawfully merged to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
They added that the decision to merge had been formulated without approval of tribesmen and it had been forcibly imposed on them.
We reject the merging conspiracy and demand of the government to retain our separate identity, restore our previous status or grant our own province, they opined.
They maintained that the tribesmen were distressed of the prevailed system as not a single promise had been materialized, made at the time of merging.
The protestors were of the view that neither mega development projects were announced nor the 110 billion rupees financial package announced in the NFC award was bestowed on them but only their minerals were seized by the provincial government that was regretful.
They remarked that tribesmen wanted restoration of their previous status that was according to their traditional rites and customs and vowed that they would continue their struggle till acceptance of their demands.
