Residents without the government financial support constructed Barani Dam in Nekikhel area which would help increase not only greenery but it would also bring up water table to reduce the drinking water scarcity in the area.
Talking to reporters Maulana Aqib Darwesh said that they collected some pool of money through a charity from local residents and constructed Barani dam(Water reservoir) to store the rain water for long time.
He said the dam was built in between the hills wherefrom water flow down in Nekikhel locality in Landikotal.
He said the idea came when water table gradually went down and residents faced drinking water scarcity. He added that they can now store millions of gallons water in the rain water reservoir.
Maulana Aqib Darwesh urged philanthropists and government to come forward and built more rain water dams in Landikotal to reduce the water scarcity.
