3,526 houses have been damaged so far, with 2,945 partially destroyed and 577 completely demolished

The death toll from recent heavy rains and flash floods in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has risen to 406, with 247 people injured, according to a report issued by the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) on Sunday.
Since August 15, torrential rains and flash floods have wreaked havoc across multiple districts of the province, causing widespread human and material losses. Among the deceased are 305 men, 55 women, and 46 children, while the injured include 179 men, 38 women, and 30 children.
In Dera Ismail Khan, eight people lost their lives and 48 others sustained injuries after roofs of houses collapsed due to heavy downpours on Sunday night. The PDMA report further revealed that a total of 3,526 houses have been damaged so far, with 2,945 partially destroyed and 577 completely demolished.
The worst-hit district is Buner, where the death toll has climbed to 337, followed by Swabi with 46 fatalities. Other affected areas include Swat, Bajaur, Mansehra, Shangla, Lower Dir, Battagram, and D.I. Khan.
Authorities have directed local administrations to accelerate relief efforts and provide immediate assistance to the victims. The PDMA stated that its Emergency Operations Center is fully functional, coordinating with all relevant institutions to monitor the situation.
