The leaders of the Afghan refugees have appreciated the government of Pakistan for providing shelter and unprecedented hospitality to millions of Afghanis, saying the government should initiate registration of unregistered Afghan refugees.
Addressing a news conference at the Peshawar Press Club (PPC) here on Wednesday, the leaders of Muhajireen Shoora Briale Mian Khel and Syed Naqeeb Bacha said that they respect the recent decision of the government of Pakistan and demanded that registration of unregistered Afghans.
“UNHCR has also agreed to cooperate in the matter of registration,” they added and said that Afghans living in Pakistan should not be used by the country’s mainstream political parties leadership and they should be kept away from politics for vested interest.
As the cards have split families, the leaders of the Afghan Refugee Council demanded that UNHCR support all refugees and reinstate the revoked cards.
They appealed to the government that Afghan refugees should be allowed to guarantee, and on a POR and ECC card, a letter should be issued instead of a visa.
Legal documents should be provided to the refugees by recognizing it as a legal document, while also demanding the Afghan government to take steps for the resettlement of the refugees because there is no facility for the refugees going from Pakistan.
