Chief Executive Officer, KPEZDMC Shaharyar Gul, accompanied by KPEZDMC Board of Directors members Safeer Akhtar and Najiullah Khattak on Friday visited the site of gas pipeline explosion caused by presure to review progress on the rehabilitation of the transmission line.
During the visit, the CEO met with the XEN HAZECO on-site and directed that restoration work on the 132 kV line be expedited to ensure the early restoration of power supply to Hattar SEZ, says an official statement.
The delegation also visited Qarshi Industries to acknowledge and appreciate the management’s support during the emergency. Additionally, they visited the DC Office to thank the district administration, including the DC, ACs, and Rescue 1122 teams, whose timely response helped save lives and prevent further damage to HSEZ power infrastructure.
The tragic incident occurred on 16th April 2026 due to a gas pipeline blast caused by pressure, followed by a subsequent fire near Hattar Economic Zone (HEZ).
The statement said that the affected pipeline was neither within the HEZ boundary nor supplying gas to the HEZ.
The incident damaged the 132 kV transmission line serving the Hattar SEZ 40 MW grid station. Six conductors, each approximately 230 meters in length, were severely damaged.
Immediately following the incident, teams from KPEZDMC, the Deputy Commissioner (DC), Assistant Commissioners (ACs), and Rescue 1122 reached the site and actively supported rescue and relief operations.
Senior management from KPEZDMC Head Office also arrived promptly on the instructions of the CEO to oversee the situation.
KPEZDMC remains committed to ensuring the swift restoration of power to Hattar SEZ and extends its deepest condolences to the families affected by this tragic incident.
It be mentioned here that at least eight people, including children, were killed and 11 others were injured after a Sui Northern Gas supply line located near a factory burst and caught fire near Hattar Industrial Estate of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Haripur district.
