KHYBER
President of Teachers’ Organization District Khyber, Sharifullah Afridi, disapproved the proposed relocation of the Regional Professional Development Center (RPDC) Jamrud male and female sections, to Peshawar.
In a press statement issued last day he said that this move had created widespread anxiety in the teacher’s community across the district and is unacceptable under any circumstances.
Since long the center has served as a vital pillar in the professional training of teachers and has played a key role in building the capacity of thousands of male and female educators in Khyber District, he opined.
Its relocation, he warned, would create serious challenges for teachers from remote areas, including increased travel difficulties, additional expenses, and loss of valuable time, ultimately affecting the overall quality of education.
Afridi further remarked that the establishment of a medical college and a nursing teaching institute is a positive step and is welcomed, however, he emphasized that alternative locations in Jamrud should be considered for these projects, rather than shifting a functional and effective training institution.
He strongly urged the Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Sohail Afridi to immediately halt the proposed relocation of the RPDC, take serious notice of teachers’ concerns, and prioritize the educational interests of Khyber District.
