Rescue teams honoured for saving tourists from River Kunhar

NARAN: Following the directives of Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Afridi and Chief Minister’s Special Assistant for Culture, Tourism and Antiquities Malik Adil Iqbal a ceremony was held in Naran to recognize the services of the rafting team, the Kaghan Development Authority (KDA) rescue team and Tourism Police personnel who safely rescued four tourists after their vehicle was swept away by the strong current of the River Kunhar. Director General Kaghan Development Authority Rehmat Ali attended the event as chief guest, while Assistant Director Planning Asad Shehzad, KDA staff and office-bearers of the Rafting Union Naran were also present. Speaking on the occasion, DG Rehmat Ali praised the rafting rescue team for its professionalism, bravery and sense of duty, saying the personnel had saved precious lives and set an example for others to follow. He said rafting is an important part of tourism and added that KDA’s technical team monitors standard operating procedures on a daily basis.
He assured that further steps would be taken to strengthen the capacity of the rafting rescue team.
At the ceremony, cash prizes and certificates were distributed among the personnel in recognition of their timely response and successful rescue operation.
