Robbers’ gang busted, 0.5m looted money recovered

Police claimed to have arrested 12 members of a robber’ gang and recovered Rs0.5 million looted cash and valuables.
The dacoit gang members have been arrested in the rural areas of Chamkani Police Circle, said a handout issued here on Thursday.
According to details, a police team headed by DSP Chamkani Luqman Khan, SHO Police Station Shahpur Imranuddin and SHO Chamkani Ahmedullah carried out intelligence based operations and apprehended 12 persons allegedly involved in different cases of robberies.
The accused were identified as Habib, Malyar, Samiullah, Sultan Aziz, Yar Muhammad, Imtiaz, Salman Khan, Rahat Khan, Sakhi Jan, Usman, Wahidullah and Kamran.
The initial investigation revealed that the accused have previous criminal records and were involved in snatching motorcycles, mobile phones and cash from citizens at gunpoint. Police claimed that the accused would smuggle the snatched valuables to neighboring country Afghanistan.
The police team has recovered Rs0.5 million, 5 motorcycles, 48 mobile, 4 pistols and cartridges from their possessions.
It has been revealed that the gang members have allegedly robbed Rs 3.2 million cash from a Punjab based businessman who was in Peshawar outside the Lady Reading Hospital.
The accused have confessed to several crimes during the initial investigation.
Police have registered cases against the arrested accused and expanded the circle of investigation.
