Russia’s Foreign Ministry has firmly denied accusations from Poland that Russian drones intentionally violated Polish airspace during a precision strike on Ukrainian military infrastructure. In a statement issued on Thursday, the ministry referred to clarifications made earlier by Russia’s Defence Ministry, which stressed that none of the drones used in the September 10 strike targeted Polish territory.
According to Moscow, the drones deployed have a maximum range of less than 700 kilometers, making it impossible for them to enter Poland’s airspace as alleged by Warsaw.“These facts overturn the myths which Poland is spreading again to aggravate the Ukrainian crisis,” the statement read.
The controversy escalated after NATO held a meeting under Article 4 of its treaty at Poland’s request. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte acknowledged that the alliance was still conducting a “full assessment” of the reported incident and did not provide evidence of intent behind the alleged violation.
Moscow said that despite “the obvious inconsistency” of Poland’s claims, it remains willing to address the matter. The Russian Defence Ministry expressed readiness to hold consultations with its Polish counterpart to avoid further escalation, while the Foreign Ministry said it stands prepared to support these efforts.
