SAARC secretary general arrives in Islamabad today

ISLAMABAD
Secretary General South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) Esala Ruwan Weerakoon arrives in Pakistan today (Wednesday) on 4- day visit.
According to FO spokesperson SAARC secretary general will undertake visit of Pakistan from today till December 25. This is his first visit to Pakistan after assuming the charge of his office in March 2020.
He will call on the Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan and Foreign Minister (FM) besides holding meetings with other high officials.
Pakistan being founding member is fully committed to move ahead SAARC objectives.
FO spokesperson further said in his statement Pakistan has always played an active role in the processes and activities of SAARC.
He said Pakistan has played a vital role in realization of SAARC objectives of cooperation, mutual trust, social and cultural development in the region.
