CM chairs high-level meeting to reviews security situation in KP

Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muhammad Sohail Afridi on Thursday visited Hangu to offer condolences to the families of police personnel martyred in the recent terrorist attack, reaffirming the provincial government’s commitment to supporting the bereaved families and intensifying efforts to eliminate terrorism.
During his visit, the chief minister met the families of the fallen policemen, offered prayers for the departed souls and expressed sympathy with the bereaved families, a statement issued here stated. He described the martyred police personnel as national heroes who sacrificed their lives in defence of the country and the protection of its citizens.
Paying tribute to their courage and dedication, Afridi assured the families that the provincial government would stand by them and provide every possible assistance. He said all available resources would be utilized to ensure their long-term welfare and support.
Later, after returning to Peshawar, the chief minister chaired a high-level meeting to review the overall law and order situation in the province. The meeting was attended by Provincial Minister for Information Shafi Jan, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Home Affairs Tariq Saeed Marwat, Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah, Additional Chief Secretary (Home), Inspector General of Police Zulfiqar Hameed and other senior officials.
The meeting reviewed the prevailing security situation across the province, with particular focus on the southern districts. Officials briefed the chief minister on recent security developments, ongoing operations and measures being taken to counter terrorism.
Issuing directives during the meeting, Afridi reaffirmed the provincial government’s resolve to employ all available resources to eradicate terrorism and establish lasting peace across KP. He said the government was pursuing a coordinated, comprehensive and intelligence-led strategy to improve public security and maintain law and order.
The chief minister paid tribute to the professionalism, dedication and sacrifices of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), saying acts of terrorism could not weaken the morale or determination of the province’s security forces.
He said the sacrifices made by police personnel in the fight against terrorism were invaluable and would never be allowed to go in vain, adding that the provincial government would continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with the police until terrorism was completely eradicated.
“Our resolve remains unshaken, and those who seek to undermine peace will never succeed in their malicious designs,” the chief minister said.
Afridi also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring a secure environment for citizens while promoting good governance and improving public service delivery. He expressed confidence that the current fiscal year would bring significant progress in peace, development and shared prosperity across the province.
