Karachi – April 5 (Online): Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani on Monday said that a ban should be imposed on inter-provincial transport including air and rail from Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Addressing a press conference, Saeed Ghani said that the coronavirus situation is better in Sindh as compared to Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa but situation can rapidly change if people continue to come from other provinces to Sindh.
On the closure of primary to middle classes in the province, Saeed Ghani said the classes have been closed temporarily as a precautionary measure to save children from the pandemic.
However, amid surge in coronavirus cases in the country during the third wave, National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) has suspended inter-provincial transport on Saturdays and Sundays, starting from April 10.
According to a statement issued on Sunday, the inter-provincial public transport will be closed on Saturdays and Sundays and the suspension will end on April 25.
The NCOC further said that goods, freight, medical and other emergency services will be exempted from the suspension, while the railway will also continue to operate seven days a week with 70 percent occupancy.
