Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s flagship Sahulat Bazaar initiative is delivering affordable, quality food items to the public, while generating employment opportunities for thousands of people across the province. According to a briefing given to the Chief Minister on Sunday, 46 Sahulat Bazaars established across Punjab have so far provided decent employment to 9,200 individuals, benefiting nearly 55,000 family members. The project has emerged as a dual-impact initiative by easing inflationary pressures on consumers and creating sustainable livelihoods for the unemployed.
Officials informed the Chief Minister that more than 85 million people have visited Sahulat Bazaars over the past year, making purchases worth Rs425 million. Thirteen essential food items, including vegetables and fruits, were being sold at wholesale rates, resulting in cumulative savings of approximately Rs110 million for consumers.
The briefing added that Sahulat Bazaars were currently operational in several cities, including Wazirabad, Chunian, Jaranwala, Chiniot, Khanewal, Bhalwal, Pattoki, Okara and Muzaffargarh, where citizens were being provided quality commodities at affordable prices.
