In a significant diplomatic and economic outreach, Prime Minister’s Coordinator for Tourism, Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan, held a series of high-level meetings with senior Tajik officials during his visit to Dushanbe, marking a major step forward in Pakistan–Tajikistan bilateral cooperation.
Sardar Yasir’s engagements underscored his proactive vision for regional integration, as discussions centered on trade expansion, connectivity, tourism development, and institutional partnerships. His dynamic diplomacy not only reflected Pakistan’s commitment to deepening regional ties but also positioned him as a driving force in fostering practical solutions for shared growth.
In a meeting with Deputy Foreign Minister Sharifzoda Farrukh Homiddin, Sardar Yasir emphasized the importance of easing travel between the two countries. He proposed the introduction of e-visa and visa-on-arrival facilities for Pakistani nationals. The talks also explored possibilities of barter trade in agricultural products, a step that could unlock new avenues of economic exchange.
“This visit is a testament to the growing friendship between Pakistan and Tajikistan,” said Sardar Yasir. “Our objective is to establish sustainable partnerships, empower institutions, and create tangible opportunities for our people.”
During his meeting with Sherali Kabir, Minister of Industry and New Technologies, Sardar Yasir pushed for structured collaboration between the two countries’ business communities. He extended an invitation to Tajik business delegations to visit Pakistan for B2B engagements, and the discussions concluded with agreements to enhance exports of textiles, leather, and building materials. Both sides also identified artificial intelligence as a promising area for collaboration, with Sardar Yasir highlighting Pakistan’s rapidly growing talent pool in the technology sector.

Connectivity remained a central theme throughout the visit. In discussions with Deputy Minister of Transport Nematzoda Farruh Nemat, Sardar Yasir proposed increasing the number of registered logistics companies to foster competitive freight rates, and pressed for greater air connectivity to facilitate faster, more efficient trade. Similarly, in talks with the Deputy Minister of Economic Development, he suggested holding regular joint economic conferences to maintain sustained dialogue and targeted trade development.
Demonstrating Pakistan’s competitive strengths, Sardar Yasir advocated for introducing Pakistani food, retail, and healthcare brands in Tajikistan, emphasizing their superior quality and affordability compared to existing imports. His vision, rooted in pragmatism and market potential, was received with strong interest by Tajik counterparts.
Beyond formal meetings, Sardar Yasir also engaged in promoting agro-tourism, visiting the grape fields of Haji Naimat in Tursunzoda, where he examined opportunities for agricultural exchange between the two nations.
The visit not only highlighted Pakistan’s emerging role as a regional economic partner but also showcased Sardar Yasir Ilyas as a forward-looking strategist and statesman, championing innovation, connectivity, and sustainable trade. Analysts note that his leadership is injecting fresh momentum into Pakistan’s diplomacy, signaling a future where Islamabad plays a central role in shaping the economic corridors of Central Asia.
