NICL mega corruption scam
ISLAMABAD
Supreme Court (SC) has accepted the plea for removing the name of former MD Ayyaz Khan Niazi from ECL in NICL mega corruption scandal.
A two members bench of SC presided over by Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan took up the case for hearing Thursday.
Rana Waqar the counsel for Ayyaz Niazi argued during the hearing of the case SC had ordered to put Ayyaz Niazi name in ECL in 2018. The accountability court acquitted Ayyaz Niazi but his name is still placed in ECL.
He further agued as the name was placed in ECL under the orders of SC, therefore, name will remain in ECL unless court withdraws its 2018 order.
Rana Waqar prayed the court to withdraw July 12, 2018 order.
Special prosecutor NAB told the court the accused has been acquitted in the said reference. But two more references are pending hearing.
On inquiring from the court the special prosecutor NAB told the court NAB has not filed appeal plea against the accused in this case.
Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail remarked NAB arrests one person then an endless series starts. If the accused is acquitted in one case he is arrested in another case. This will continue till what time.
The court while accepting plea of former MDA NICL Ayyaz Niazi maintained that if Ayyaz Niazi name is in ECL in connection with some other case then the respective court will decide about it.
