ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) has ordered Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP) to complete audit of Sindh Text Book Board (STBB) and file report in the court. The SC gave these orders during the hearing of a petition against Sindh High Court (SHC) decision regarding forensic audit of STBB. The case came up for hearing before a two members bench of SC presided over by the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Friday. The CJP remarked the biggest weakness of our country is that no one places focus on education. Sindh province is famous for ghost schools. Tell us who audits STBB. Justice Ayesha Malik remarked Rs 2.30 billion budget was provided to STBB. SHC ordered its audit be got conducted. The audit has not been got conducted despite court orders. The counsel for STBB told the court we have no objection over audit. The objection is over appointing additional registrar as supervisor and immediate audit. SHC issued illegal order. AGPR conducts audit of STBB. If court orders we will present audit of last 20 years. The court while ordering auditor general to complete audit of STBB and file the report in the respective court adjourned the hearing of the case for indefinite period. Online
