Conspiracy to topple Benazir Bhutto govt
ISLAMABAD
Supreme Court (SC) has upheld sentences of two retired army officers involved in the conspiracy to topple government of former Prime Minister (PM) Benazir Bhutto.
Proceedings was initiated against both of the army officers under the charges of their involvement in conspiracy to topple Benazir government in 1995.
The appeal plea against the sentences of Colonel (r) Azad Minhas and Colonel (r) Inayatullah. Both former army officers came up for hearing before SC
Judge Muneeb Akhtar of SC read out the judgment which was reserved on February 15.
The court dismissed the appeal pleas of Colonel (r) Azad Minhas and Colonel (r) Inayatullah against their sentences.
It is pertinent to mention here the petitioners had resorted to SC in 2016 after their.
petitions were rejected by Lahore High Court. .
The Field Court Martial had sentenced Azad Minhas to two-year and Inayatullah to four-year imprisonment, with hard labor. They were also dismissed from duty.
