Supreme Court (SC) while summoning detailed audit report in respect of Evacuee Trust Property has directed Auditor General to complete forensic audit of Evacuee Trust property till April 30.
The SC has maintained tell us how much land of Evacuee Trust Property was sold out or rented out at cheaper rate. How much evacuee trust property has been occupied illegally? Details be presented within a month. If the satisfactory reply does not come then stern action will be taken.
A 3-member bench of SC presided over by Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan took up the case for hearing Thursday.
During the course of hearing Punjab government filed report in respect of cases registered by it against the hate speeches on social media and misuse of social media and details of the temples which have been restored.
According to report 5 cases were registered in 2015 with reference to social media. 6 persons were arrested and 4 were sentenced. One was acquitted. 44 cases were registered in 2016, 8 cases in 2017, 2 cases in 2018, one case in 2019, 27 cases in 2020 and 12 cases in 2021.
It was further stated in the report that 99 cases have been registered with reference to hate material on social media. 101 persons were arrested , 62 persons were sentenced and 11 persons were acquitted. There are 59 pages and websites on social media which foment sectarianism and hate against the state. There are 46 pages on social media containing hate material against the religious sects and minorities. PTA has blocked 44 web sites which were found fanning hatred.
Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan inquired details were sought about evacuee trust property board on previous hearing. Why these have not been presented.
Ashtar Ausaf counsel for Evacuee Trust property told the court he will check all the matters personally and file the report.
He told the court FIA is arresting our officers. FIA has freezed the bank accounts of employees of evacuee trust property board. Employees cannot draw their salaries.
Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan remarked we cannot stop FIA from initiating legal proceedings. The court cannot tell law enforcement agencies how to work.
FIA officials told the court former chairman Evacuee trust property has been arrested being involved in 8 cases. We freeze the accounts in only money laundering cases.
Justice Mazahir Naqvi remarked the employees should be allowed to draw their salaries.
The court sought reply from FIA on freezing the accounts of employees.

The court while summoning head of minorities rights commission in person on next hearing directed that report on expenses of minorities rights commission be filed within one month.
The court maintained the monthly expenses of Minorities rights commission are more than 5 lac rupees. The details of expenses of minorities rights commission be presented.
The court adjourned the hearing of suo motu notice related to rights of the minorities for indefinite period.
