ISLAMABAD, April 01 (Online): Supreme Court (SC) has summoned implementation report of recommendations of National interventional Cardiology Board (NICB) during the hearing of substandard stents case.
A three-member bench of SC presided over by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Gulzar Ahmed took up the case for hearing Thursday.
The court also issued notices to heads of national and provincial health commission and provincial advocate generals on this occasion.
The court rejected the plea for making National Accountability Bureau (NAB) member of pricing committee.
Chairman Life saving devices pricing committee Azhar Kiani took the plea sub standard stents are in abundant in the markets. Inexperienced practitioners are installing stents in the patients.
Justice Ijaz ul Ahsan remarked the import of sub standard stents should not be allowed.
The CJP remarked SC gave the decision against the sub standard stents. The court’s orders and NICB recommendations are not being implemented. Sub standard stents are being used across the country. The cardiac matters are left to inexperienced
