Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry president Fazal Moqeem Khan stressed uninterrupted power and gas supply with subsidized rates to industries and business.
Besides, he stressed removal of double policies and anti-business actions, and provision of facilitation to investors under one-window operation along with provision of concrete steps and incentives for revival of sick industries in KP.
SCCI chief also demanded provision of soft loans, and concrete steps to address genuine grievances of industrialists and investors, adding that such initiatives would lead to New Provincial Industrial Policy to progress and would achieve all set goals under it.
He made these remarks while chairing a meeting of the Sectoral Group on Ease of Doing Business-One Stop Facilitation under New Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Industrial Policy 2025-30 here at the chamber house on Tuesday.
Meeting was attended by KPEZDMC senior officials Fakhr Alam Sahibzada, Anwaar Zia, Muhammad Rafiq, Smeda Provincial Chief Rashid Aman, KPBOIT Director Policies/ EODB Raees Anjum and SCCI Senior Manager R&D Sohail Anjum and others.
The forum thoroughly held discussion on key points, mostly relating to investors problems, hurdle in investment, duplication in policies/actions, inefficiency in business setup, operations and elimination of NOC culture, integration of all relevant institutions, launch of business web portal, digitalization of licensing, registration process, institutional framework and others.
Participants/senior officials stressed real time data collection of industries, formation of Business Redressal Council/forum on pattern of DRCs and proactively implementation on Governance Structure and others.
The speakers pointed out various issues that were hampering investment and industrialization in KP and gave a number of suggestions for adding into the New Industrial Policy 2025-30.
Despite surplus electricity and gas, and oil reserves and other natural resources, KP has remained backward as compared to other provinces, Moqeem remarked.
He noted brain drain and the flight of capital from KP is increasing, while established businesses and industries and people in this province are in great trouble under the prevailing circumstances.
The chamber president called for flourishing industries and businesses critical for elimination of terrorism, social evils and poverty through generation of employment opportunities to people in the province.
Moqeem emphasized the need for efficient utilization of KP’s natural resources.
He viewed huge investment opportunities available in various important sectors in KP.
The SCCI chief wants pragmatic steps for ease of doing business in KP.
He assured the provincial government and relevant departments for all kinds of cooperation in the success of New KP Industrial Policy 2025-30.
