PESHAWAR
The district administration has imposed Section 144 in Upper and Lower South Waziristan for one month due to security concerns and the risk of possible attacks by Khawarij.
According to official notifications on Wednesday the restrictions have been enforced immediately to ensure public safety, maintain law and order and protect security forces, police stations, police posts and other sensitive installations.
Deputy Commissioner of Lower South Waziristan, Musarrat Zaman, said that all motorists must stop their vehicles at least 200 metres before reaching any check post. No vehicle will be allowed to cross a check post without clear permission from security personnel.
The notification also states that during the movement of security forces’ convoys, all civilian vehicles must pull off the road and stop at a safe location until instructed otherwise by security officials.
In addition, vehicle movement and parking within a 200-metre radius of security forces’ installations, police stations, police posts and check posts have been prohibited. The restrictions apply to several areas, including Wana, Azam Warsak, Kari Kot, Kalosha, Dana, Tanai, Zarmilan, Manra and Sararogha, where enhanced security measures have been introduced.
The district administration warned that anyone violating Section 144 will face legal action under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code and other relevant laws.
Authorities have appealed to residents to fully cooperate with security forces, avoid unnecessary travel and immediately report any suspicious activity or vehicles to the relevant authorities to help maintain peace and ensure public safety.
