ISLAMABAD: Senate standing committee on interior has approved the bill for issuing blue passport to former members of parliament. Senator Abdul Qadir presented The Members of Parliament (salaries and allowances ) amendment act-2026. According to bill formers members of parliament will be made entitled to free official (blue) passport. Wives of former parliamentarians and their dependent children below 28 will be entitled to get free blue passport. According to bill retired federal secretaries and their families are already availing this facility. Former parliamentarians will also be brought at par with retired federal secretaries. Following the approval of bill by standing committee bill will be presented in regular session of Senate for final legislation and voting. This proposal will not become law unless parliamentary proceedings is concluded and pass through the respective phases. ONLINE
