Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University (SBBWU) Peshawar on Tuesday organized an awareness session against drug prevalence in higher education institutions.
The session was organized at the Department of English of the university. The event aimed to address the pressing issue of drug abuse among students and to promote a drug-free educational environment.

Speakers shared their expertise, highlighting the dangers, causes, and solutions to this critical. Fukraz Masoh, Sub-Inspector of the Anti-Narcotics Force, who shared valuable insights from his extensive on-ground experience, and Ikram, Deputy Director of the Higher Education Department and representative of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Center for Peace and Violent Extremism (KPCVE), who highlighted the role of educational institutions in curbing drug abuse. Dr. SadiaNazeer, Head of the English Department and Chief Proctor, delivered an inspiring welcome note, setting a positive tone for the event and emphasizing the collective commitment of the institution’s leadership, faculty, and law enforcement to address this critical issue. Mr. FukrazMasoh’s talk provided an in-depth look at the efforts being made to combat drug prevalence in educational institutions.
His address was followed by a skit presentation that portrayed the real-life impact of drug addiction on individuals and families, leaving a profound impact on the audience. Mr. Ikram’s talk further underscored the importance of collaboration between institutions, educators, and law enforcement agencies in fostering awareness and preventing drug abuse.
The session effectively highlighted the dangers of drug addiction in universities and stressed the need for proactive measures. Collaborative efforts by students, families, and institutions are essential to curb this growing menace.
