Special Assistant on Information for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Shafi Jan, has strongly criticized a recent statement by Prime Minister’s Special Coordinator and PML-N leader Ikhtiar Wali, calling it a reflection of political dishonesty and ignorance.
In his response, Jan accused Wali of attempting to deflect attention from the federal government’s failures and urged him to focus on addressing the issues within the federation instead of blaming the provincial administration.
CM aide on information labeled Wali’s criticism as “panic-driven” and “politically dishonest,” asserting that the claims about poor governance were an attempt to cover up the federal government’s shortcomings. He emphasized that instead of criticizing KP’s leadership, Wali should first be accountable for the federal government’s own failures, particularly in handling issues such as inflation, unemployment, and the growing cost of living, which have made life increasingly difficult for ordinary citizens.
“Before pointing fingers at provincial governance, those who claim there is no governance in KP should answer for the performance of the federal government,” Jan stated.
“The policies of the federation, especially under the current leadership, have left the people burdened with rising prices and unemployment.”
He went on to defend the provincial government, highlighting the tireless work being done under the leadership of Chief Minister Mahmood Khan. Despite the federal government’s decision to halt vital funding, Jan praised the provincial Police for their bravery and dedication in combating terrorism. “The provincial government is committed to the welfare of the people and continues to work day and night to ensure their safety and well-being,” he added.
“Those who lecture on corruption must explain the growing number of scandals emerging from the federation. Who is responsible for the Rs 5300 billion corruption scandal?” he asked.
“Instead of engaging in political rhetoric, Ikhtiar Wali should reflect on his own failures and the federal government’s record. The people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa deserve respect and accountability,” Jan added.
