Shahbaz handed over to NAB on physical remand for 14 days

LAHORE : Accountability Court (AC) Lahore has handed over former Chief Minister (CM) Punjab Shahbaz Sharif to NAB on 14 days physical remand.

Shahbaz Sharif is already arrested in Money laundering and assets case.

The court ordered that Shahbaz Sharif be presented again on October 13.

Judge Jawad ul Hassan led the AC during the hearing of the case Tuesday.

Shahbaz Sharif was arrested on Monday from Lahore High Court (LHC) following the rejection of his bail plea by the court.

NAB presented Shahbaz before the court on Tuesday and requested the court to grant 15 days remand.

NAB prosecutor told the court inquiry was started against Shahbaz Sharif on receipt of complaint from State Bank. Shahbaz and his sons set up 9 business units from 2008 to 2018. In 1990 Shahbaz Sharif assets valued Rs 2.1 million while the assets rose to Rs 10.8 million in 2018 in respect of Shahbaz and his family members in 1998 and Rs 6 billion in 2018 due to benami accounts holders and front man.

Shahbaz Sharif and his family members have accumulated assets of over Rs 7 billion due to corruption and corrupt practices so far.

NAB prosecutor informed the court LHC has rejected bail plea of Hamza Shahbaz in money laundering case. Shahbaz Sharif is trying to influence the investigation and he is feared to flee from the country. Suleman Shahbaz son of Shahbaz Sharif has been declared proclaimed offender in money laundering case.

During the hearing Shahbaz Sharif said he leaves his case to the court of Allah. NAB can get remand for as many days as it wills. I will fight my case on my own. I will not take help from any one else. We were in exile when assets were distributed by father. When I returned to Pakistan I shifted 100 percent assets to my children.

The court handed over Shahbaz to NAB on 14 days physical remand.
