Shopkeepers oppose Town-One administration`s anti-encroachment drive, threaten protest

Vendors and shopkeepers opposed the drive and raised slogans against the Town-One administration for its illegal encroachments drives in different markets of the provincial capital.
These views were expressed by Khalid Gul Mohmand, president Pakistan Business Forum Peshawar in a news press conference here on Saturday. Presidents and general secretaries of different markets were also present on the occasion.
Mr Khalid said that the small shopkeepers and business community were facing difficulties due to rising inflation and Covid-19 pandemic, adding that Town One administration was pushing the poor shopkeepers and traders into the swamp of unemployment under the guise of encroachments drive.
These views were expressed by Khalid, President Pakistan Business Forum Peshawar.
Khalid Mahmood, president of Khyber Bazar and Central Vice President of Pakistan Business Forum, Haji Saifullah, President of Khushal Bazar and Business Forum City Traders, Gul Nazir, Senior Vice President of District General Sikandarpura Bazar of Business Forum, Business Forum of Kabari Bazar. President Haji Ghulam Habib Safi and President of Bazaar Khudadad Haji Ishaq also spoke on the occasion and demanded of the provincial government to stop operations in markets.
Khalid Gul Mohmand said that the town administration should have invited a delegation of representatives of all trade associations of Peshawar to take the traders of Peshawar into confidence.
He also alleged Town One administrator of threats and said that the administration should refrain from such measures, otherwise there will be strong resistance from the Pakistan Business Forum.
