SIC moves SHC against not allotting reserved seats

Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) has filed petition in Sindh High Court (SHC) against not giving reserved seats to it in Sindh Assembly (SA). The constitutional petition was filed in SHC through Ali Tahir. Justice Zulfiqar Ahmad accepted the plea for immediate hearing. Hearing will be done today. The petitioner has taken plea in the petition that independent candidates achieved success in large number despite rigging in polls. Independent candidates joined SIC through legal way. In Sindh Assembly SIC is entitled to one minority seat and 2 reserved seats of women.
The petitioner prayed the court to declare EC decision illegal and unconstitutional.
The SIC has resorted to high courts in other provinces as well on the matter of reserved seats.
Earlier SIC chairman Sahibzada Hamid Raza had challenged in Lahore High Court the matter of not giving reserved seats to it in Punjab Assembly.
Peshawar High Court had extended the order for stopping elected members from taking oath till March 13 on the petition by SIC against not allotting reserved seats to it in KP assembly
