LAHORE
Former New Zealand cricketer, Simon Doull, is standing by his statement during commentary about Multan Sultans captain, Mohammad Rizwan, when the wicketkeeper-batsman was initially struggling to get going in his innings against Karachi Kings on Wednesday in HBL PSL 8.
ìI hate to say it, but heís just got to get off,î Doull said. ìHeís striking at 109, youíve got enormous power to come, just leave the field, chief. You are the skipper, do the right thing by your team. You canít run the twos quickly. Youíre not helping your mate at the other end. Iíd say just go off, get treatment, youíve done your job.î
The wicketkeeper-batsman upped the ante after reaching his fifty in 42 balls.
Rizwan created history as he took only 18 balls to get to his hundred from fifty, completing his century in just 60 balls. It is the fastest 50 to 100 acceleration by any Pakistani batter in PSL history.
Doull maintained his stance despite Rizwanís acceleration later in the innings.
“There are no such things as bad hundreds but there are centuries in a losing cause. The balls Rizwan wasted in the earlier part of his innings could have been better utilized,” he said.
The wicketkeeper-batsman finished with an unbeaten 110-run knock from 64 balls, to help his team reach 196-2 in 20 overs.
