Six officials hurt in FIA, FC scuffle in Torkham

Six immigration crew members Federal Investigative Agency (FIA) officials got injured when a fight erupted between Federal Investigative Agency (FIA) and Frontier Corp (FC) troops over clearing of Kabul bound pedestrians here at NADRA check point, Torkham on Sunday.
Due to the brawl, the Torkham border was suspended for time being for all kinds of movement.
Video, viral on the social media showed that a number of FC soldiers dragged FIA officials out of their office and started beating them cruelly.
According to the FIA official, they were engaged in a routine immigration process in the pedestrian terminal, Torkham when one of the FC soldiers forced them to clear an Afghanistan bound Afghan national without legal travelling documents.
On their refusal, more than two dozen stormed their office and thrashed them brutally, he added.
Six wounded FIA officials were shifted to headquarter hospital, Landi Kotal for medical aid, where from two patients were referred to Peshawar health center due to precarious condition, health official said.
The wounded FIA officials were identified as Arif, Amjad, Zulfiqar, Harpal Singh, Ambar Shah and Mehmood. According to security official the mishap took place because of passengers’ rush in the pedestrian terminal.
Misunderstanding arose between the on- duty officials of two concerned departments, which caused minor brawl and few officials slightly injured, he added.
He added that highup of the FIA and FC took notice of the incident, immediate resolved it and determined to adopt initiatives to avoid such kind mishap in future at the border.
