Solar power being installed in schools

TIMERGARA: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa finance minister Muzafar Syed on Saturday said his government had issued millions of rupees worth of funds to schools across the province for the installation of solar system for free electricity.
He was addressing an oath-taking ceremony of the Timergara Press Club here.
The minister directed Pesco not to suspend power supply to water schemes in the district.
He said solar system couldn’t run water schemes in the winter season and therefore, the people would need electric supply in that season.
Earlier, the district nazim complained Pesco was disconnecting the supply of electricity to the water schemes, which were being converted to the solar system.
The minister also said the Gopalam irrigation scheme planned for Timergara, Talash and Adenzai had been included in the annual development programme.
He said the government believed in good governance and would ensure provision of all basic facilities to the people across the province.
The minister announced the government would put up the press club’s building. He said he would raise the issue of the establishment of a media colony in Timergara with the information minister.
Earlier, the minister administered oath to the newly-elected members of the club’s cabinet and executive council. PROMOTION OF TOURISM: The district council of Lower Dir met here in Laram Top area of Adenzai on Saturday to discuss ways and means to promote tourism in the district.
Naib nazim Abdul Rashid chaired the meeting, where councillors, MPAs Izazul Mulk Afkari and Saeed Gul, deputy commissioner Irfanullah Wazir and district police officer Syed Ali Akbar Shah were also in attendance.
The councillors demanded that the government approve funds for the reconstruction and widening of Laram Top Road.
They said visitors to the area complained of shortage of drinking water and lodging facilities. The opposition members staged a walkout complaining the treasury benches ignore them in various standing committees.
