PESHAWAR
Rallies and events were held across various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday to observe Kashmir Black Day and express solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). Participants strongly condemned India’s continued occupation and human rights violations in the region.
In Peshawar, the Capital Metropolitan government organized a solidarity walk to mark the day. Director General Capital Metropolitan government Qadeer Naseer, Admin Officer Khuda-e-Nazar, Chairman Mazdoor Ittihad Qaiser Bacha, General Secretary Fazal Mahmood, President of United Municipal Workers Ismail Khan, General Secretary Waqar Ali Shah, Finance Secretary Khawaja Aftab, and a large number of employees participated.
The walk started from the Metropolitan Office and culminated at Bacha Khan Chowk, where participants carried placards and chanted slogans in support of the Kashmiri people and their right to self-determination.
Addressing the participants, DG Qadeer Naseer said that October 27, 1947, marks a dark day in the history of Kashmir when India forcibly sent its troops to Srinagar and occupied the territory.
It is a tragic chapter in human history that continues to this day, he said, adding that India has persistently violated the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination as guaranteed under the UN Security Council resolutions.
In Tank, a major event was organized under the auspices of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office. A large number of administrative officers, heads of departments, local elders, civil society representatives, scholars, journalists, and youth took part.
The participants recorded a strong protest against India’s illegal occupation and reaffirmed unwavering support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.
In Lower Chitral, a grand rally and ceremony were held under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Rao Hashim Azeem. Officers and representatives from the district administration, police, education, Rescue 1122, Public Health Engineering, Civil Defense, and other departments participated.
The participants carried placards and banners bearing slogans such as Kashmir Black Day, We Stand with Kashmir, and Stop Human Rights Violations in IIOK.

In Upper Chitral, various events were organized to mark the day. Special prayers and Fateha Khawani were held after Fajr prayers at Jamia Masjid Boni and Jamia Masjid Wazir Begandur, Verijoun. At Jamia Masjid Boni, Tehsil Khatib Maulana Fasih-ur-Rehman prayed for the martyrs of Kashmir and the freedom of the oppressed Kashmiri people. A grand rally was also held in collaboration with the district administration and local government in Morkahu/Torkahu.
In Bajaur, the district administration observed Black Day as a mark of solidarity with the Kashmiri people. The main ceremony was held at Civil Colony Jirga Hall, Khar, where administrative officers, tribal elders, heads of departments, youth, and students participated.
The event began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by national songs presented by students.
Addressing the gathering, Additional Deputy Commissioner General Shahid Rafique Gandapur and district elders strongly condemned Indian atrocities and reiterated Pakistan’s political, moral, and diplomatic support for the Kashmiri struggle.
Similarly, in Malakand, a solidarity walk was held under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Muhammad Fayyaz Khan Sherpao. The rally started from District Secretariat Batkhela and concluded at Bypass Bridge. A large number of officials, students, and citizens participated, carrying placards inscribed with messages of support for the Kashmiri people. A one-minute silence was also observed before the walk concluded amidst enthusiastic slogans.
