Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Islamabad Qazi Ali Raza put the capital’s specialised crime-fighting units on a fast track, directing the Anti-Robbery and Dacoity Unit (ARDU) and Anti-Vehicle Lifting Unit (AVLU) to intensify operations against wanted criminals, accelerate recovery of stolen vehicles and bring pending investigations to their logical conclusion.
An Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police official told APP on Saturday that the directives were issued during a meeting chaired by the SSP Operations to review the performance, field operations and investigation progress of the two specialised units.
DSP ARDU Suleman Shah, In-charge AVLU Inspector Noor Ullah and investigation officers attended the meeting and briefed the SSP on crime-prevention measures, performance of their respective units and progress in cases currently under investigation.
Qazi Ali Raza reviewed efforts to apprehend proclaimed and wanted offenders, recover stolen vehicles and property, and employ modern technology to identify and trace criminal elements.
He directed the officers to intensify field operations and investigative efforts, making effective use of available resources and technological tools to track down offenders and recover stolen property.
The SSP ordered investigation officers to ensure that pending cases were taken to their logical conclusion at the earliest, strictly on the basis of law and available evidence.
He also stressed close supervision of ongoing investigations and directed supervisory officers to improve both the pace and quality of investigative work, while maintaining pressure on criminal elements through sustained field operations.
Qazi Ali Raza said effective coordination between specialised units, technology-assisted investigation and targeted field action were essential to curb robbery, dacoity and vehicle theft in the federal capital.
He reiterated that the protection of citizens’ lives and property and prevention of crime remained among Islamabad Police’s top priorities, adding that operations against criminal elements would continue without interruption.
