Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Minister for Social Welfare, Syed Qasim Ali Shah, stated that the current government is striving for the welfare of all segments of society and is taking increasingly effective steps to improve the condition of the transgender community and ensure their rights. He expressed these views while addressing a meeting of the Transgender Association held in Peshawar.
The meeting focused in detail on important issues such as the rights of the transgender community, education, health, identification documents, financial support, and protection. Discussions were held on taking further steps to provide better facilities for transgender persons to live a prosperous life, and several decisions were made in this regard.
On this occasion, Minister Syed Qasim Ali Shah said that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government considers transgender persons an important part of society. Priority measures are being taken for them in sectors like education, health, employment, and protection so that they can lead a dignified life within society. He further said that the current government is giving equal attention to the issues of all segments of the province.
He added that if necessary, the government will not hesitate to bring about effective reforms in laws to ensure the welfare and provision of facilities to the transgender community, and efforts will be made at every level for this purpose. Officials of the Transgender Association expressed their gratitude to the provincial minister for his assurance to resolve their issues and hoped that the provincial government would take further steps for the welfare and rights of their community.
