Islamabad: Department of Food and Nutrition, Institute of Home Economics, Art and Design, F-11, Islamabad. A recent study conducted at the Institute of Home Economics, Art and Design, Islamabad, highlights the key motivations behind food consumption among working and stay-at-home women. The qualitative research involved twelve participants and was supervised by Ms. Sarah Farooq and Ms. Sarah Fatima. Findings revealed that time, budget, skills, and environmental factors significantly influenced dietary decisions. Working women tended to prefer quick and easy meals due to time constraints, while stay-at-home women focused on home-cooked and balanced meals. Children’s preferences and cultural traditions played a strong role for stay-at-home mothers, whereas working women cited workplace routines and energy levels as influencing factors. The study emphasizes the importance of understanding women’s diverse roles when promoting healthy eating habits in society. Mahnoor Fatima and Nimra Anwar
