A delegation of the District Press Club Tank on Wednesday met the Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Information, Shafi Jan, to discuss challenges faced by journalists in Tank.
The delegation was led by MPA and DEDAC chairman Muhammad Usman Khan Bettani and included President Syed Badshah Kundi, General Secretary Kifayatullah Paracha, as well as Tanveer Shah Kundi and Zafran Miani.
During the meeting, Mr Bettani and Mr Kundi apprised the special assistant of the difficulties faced by journalists in the district and stressed the need for timely measures to address their concerns.
Mr Jan assured the delegation that the issues highlighted would be resolved on a priority basis.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Bettani said that despite limited resources and challenging conditions, journalists in Tank had continued to play a vital role in highlighting local issues through responsible reporting, contributing to the area’s development.
Mr Jan said the role of media in the present era could not be overlooked, describing it as the eyes and ears of society. He added that the provincial government welcomed constructive criticism and remained committed to upholding freedom of the press.
