TDAP hosts 2nd Trade Festival in Sukkur

The Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP) organized the 2nd Sukkur Trade Festival at IBA Public School drawing large crowds of citizens, students, youth, women and elders. The two day event was inaugurated by Advisor to the Chief Minister of Sindh, Khair Shaikh, TDAP Director General Abdul Karim Memon, and Director General of Agriculture Sindh, who cut the ribbon to open the festival.
Stalls displayed a wide range of local products, including dates, olive oil, handicrafts, garments from local brands, food items and other hand made goods.
Visitors showed keen interest in the exhibits, with many exploring business and export potential of Sindh’s agricultural and agro based products.
Speaking at the ceremony, Khair Shaikh and Warayo Rind said the festival’s aim is to introduce local production not only at the national level but also to global markets, highlighting the importance of Sindh’s crops and crafts.
They noted that such events help people appreciate the value of local skills and products, from rice and dates to other agricultural goods.
Khair Shaikh added that in Larkana Division alone, annual production of No. 9 Irri rice reaches around 1.4 billion maunds, playing a significant role in regional economy and employment.
He emphasized that given limited government job opportunities, citizens should focus on developing local brands, skills and businesses to create employment and strengthen the economy.
The event also featured participation from Director Amanat Laghari, Director Fida Hussain Mahesar, Deputy Manager Media Farzana Abbasi, Deputy Manager Afshan Uroos, Mohsin Bullo, Chairperson of Step Foundation Shaista Khoso, PML-N President Khurshid Merani and other notable figures.
The festival included trade stalls, networking opportunities and awareness sessions, aiming to promote regional trade, exports and economic growth in Sindh.
