The All Teachers Association (ATA), District Khyber, has strongly condemned the tragic killing of a government school teacher, who was shot dead by unidentified assailants outside Government High School Jan Khan Killay in Bara on Wednesday.
Civil society members and teachers called on a meeting and strongly condemned the brutall killing of achool teacher.
In a statement, issued by ATA Khyber, demanded of the government to use its efforts and bring the culprits into justice. They termed the incident not just the murder of an individual teacher but an attack on the entire education community and the future of society.
“Teachers are the architects of the nation and such cowardly attacks are a conspiracy against peace, education and progress,” the statement read.
The teachers’ association expressed full solidarity with the bereaved family and demanded immediate justice from the government. All Teachers Association Patron-in-chief Haji Ghaffar Khan, vice president Malik Nadir Shah and Clchairman Landikotal Rahat Shah, in their joint statement urged the district administration particularly the deputy commissioner,police and corps commander to ensure the immediate arrest of those involved and bring them to justice.
They also pledged full cooperation with security agencies to help track down the perpetrators. However, they warned that if swift and effective action was not taken, teachers and other school staff members would be compelled to shut down all educational institutions across the district and launch a long protest movement, holding the authorities responsible for the consequences.
Meanwhile, teachers’ communities, civil society members and local residents across Khyber district also strongly condemned the brutal killing of a school teacher. They called on the government to take serious and concrete measures to protect citizens, particularly teachers and journalists, who continue to face threats in the region.
They demanded foolproof security arrangements for educational institutions and teachers to prevent such tragic incidents in the future. “Anti-education elements will never be allowed to succeed in their nefarious designs,” the statement concluded.
