Teams formed for identification, repatriation of Afghans in DIKhan

An important meeting held here on Saturday with Commissioner Dawood Khan in the chair, reviewed arrangements for the identification and repatriation of illegally residing Afghan nationals.
The meeting was attended by Regional Police Officer DI Khan Region Syed Ashfaq Anwar, Deputy Commissioner Abdul Nasir Khan, District Police Officer Sajjad Ahmed Sahibzada and other officials, a handout said.
The forum reviewed the steps taken so far for the identification, registration and dignified return of illegal Afghan nationals, along with the overall performance of the departments involved.
The commissioner was briefed on progress, challenges faced and security arrangements.
Commissioner Dawood Khan directed all institutions to work in close coordination to ensure effective, transparent and lawful implementation of the government policy.
He ordered the formation of joint teams comprising police, revenue and union council staff to remap relevant areas, identify illegal residents and submit daily reports.
He further directed that joint teams of administration and police officers should visit various jails to identify illegally residing foreign nationals.
The commissioner warned that legal action would be taken under the TIF Act against individuals found providing accommodation or assistance to illegal residents.
Clarifying the government’s stance, he said action against illegal residents would be taken strictly in accordance with the law, while women, children and the sick should be treated with humane consideration.
He also instructed security agencies to ensure foolproof security arrangements to prevent any untoward incident.
It was decided that progress would be reviewed on a daily basis, with concerned departments submitting timely reports.
The district administration reaffirmed its commitment to completing the repatriation process peacefully, orderly and within the ambit of the law, in line with the directives of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government.
