The 78th Independence Day was celebrated in Tehsil Bara with a special tree plantation drive organized by the Karwan-e-Haq Foundation under the Clean and Green initiative. The event was attended by former MPA Shafiq Afridi, who planted a sapling to promote the importance of environmentally friendly practices.
Extending greetings to the people of the merged districts, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and the entire nation, Shafiq Afridi said August 14 is a symbol of Pakistan’s freedom, sovereignty, and national identity. “This day reminds us of the sacrifices and struggle of our forefathers who turned the dream of an independent homeland into reality,” he remarked.
Highlighting the purpose of the plantation campaign, Afridi said it aimed not only to make the environment greener but also to provide future generations with a healthy and pollution-free atmosphere. Calling tree plantation a form of continuous charity (Sadaqah Jariyah), he urged citizens to contribute by planting trees in their homes, streets, and workplaces.
Referring to the “Battle for Truth,” Afridi said its success was proof that the Pakistani nation and the armed forces stand firmly on the path of principles, faith, and truth.
The ceremony concluded with the plantation of more saplings at different locations. Participants pledged to play an active role in making Tehsil Bara green and flourishing, prayed for Pakistan’s safety, and raised enthusiastic slogans of “Pakistan Zindabad” to mark the occasion.
