Terror and violent incidents are on rise in almost of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during current calendar year whereas the CTD police reported killing of 337 and injuring 616 others till end of August. Amongst the victim 103 police personnel were killed and 154 other injured. According to report amongst them killed 103 and 159 injured are civilians.
As many as 49 killed and 124 injured are personnel of Frontier Corps killed during eight months. Most of violent acts and casualties included 63 occurred in Dera Ismael Khan from where Chief Minister Ali Amin, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi and Inspector General Police Akhtar Hayat are also belonging. The CTD report made public on the day when Pakistan’s Permanenr Representative to UN has raised the increasing terrorist threat emanating from Afghanistan. He alleged that banned TTP expanding its influence with the support of the Afghan interim government. Addressing the UN Security Council Muneer Akram said that banned TTP has become the largest terrorist group in Afghanistan, routinely conducting cross border attacks into Pakistan.
“Pakistan fears that the TTP’s growing alliance with Al Qaeda could soon elevate it to a central role in regional and global terrorist activities.” Analyst Syed Akhtar Ali Shah believe, “banned TTP militants encouraged after empowering of Taliban in Afghanistan on August 15th 2021 last.
He believes that government needs to review its policies regarding tackling issues of terrorism and extremism. Amidst increasing terror and violent acts, security forces are also losing its credibility amongst civilians including police force. Peace marches and rallies against alleged terrorist are taking place throughout the province. —DNA
