In light of the provincial government’s public agenda, the week-long women’s week celebrations concluded on Thursday at Hayatabad Sports Complex. Provincial Ombudsperson, Rakhshanda Naz, attended the concluding ceremony as the chief guest and emphasized the importance of women’s rights and their development. “Women are the foundation of our society, and their role is pivotal not only within a family but in the entire society”, she stated.
She added that they play a very important role in various sectors including education, health, economy, and social development. The provincial Ombudsperson further said that encouraging women’s participation brings positive changes to society and lays the groundwork for a better future.
The event was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Relief) Uzma Mukarram, Assistant Commissioner Ayesha Tahir, Additional Assistant Commissioner Haseena Kamran, and Additional Assistant Commissioner Misbah Waheed, along with female police officers, female officials from the education department, students, and women from various walks of life.
The District Administration of Peshawar organized the event in collaboration with the District Youth Office and the Sports Department. During Women’s Week, various sports competitions were held among female students in government schools. The week-long series of events also included a Milad un Nabi organized at Darul Aman Women’s Crisis Center in the context of Rabi’ al-Awwal.
At the end of the event, prizes and shields were distributed among the female students and women who excelled in the competitions. The event was meant to highlight the strength, determination, and vital role of women in society. It reminds us that recognizing women’s power and providing opportunities for their progress is our collective responsibility.
