Mardan police have registered a first case against a person under Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) for allegedly using harsh words and negative propaganda against the Mardan press club members and Mardan press club, sources said.
Sources added that on behalf of Mardan press club President Muhammad Riaz Mayar and General Secretary Parveez Khan has submitted an application in the district police officer (DPO) Zahoor Babar Afridi office along with evidence.
It was stated in the application that a person identified as Zahid Khan who in the past submitted an application for press club membership however the membership committee has rejected his application.
Later on he approached the local court and Peshawar high court against the decision of the membership committee.
The local court in his decision stated that it is held that this court has got no jurisdiction to entertain the suit in hand and the plaint in hand is returned to the plaintiff with direction to approach the proper forum for redressal of his grievances if any.
The Peshawar high court also directed him to approach the concern forum. However later on from the last few years the mentioned person has started false propaganda against the Mardan press club and press club members on social media.
Sources added that they also presented the audience with the application against the mentioned person. Sources added that the City police station official registered a case against him under section PPC 506,500,20 Peca Act and started investigations.
