Supreme Court (SC) has rejected the plea seeking cancellation of bail of the accused Sheikh Latif Ahmad in the case pertaining to violation of business deal.

A 3-member bench of SC presided over by the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Umar Ata Bandial took up the case for hearing Wednesday.

The CJP remarked during the hearing of the case “ there should be a difference between business men and criminals. Prima facie the accused does not want to make payment. We expect good dealing from the business community. There should be element of honestly in the dealing.

The CJP while addressing the counsel for the accused remarked “ you are running mill and are not making payment as well. We are not cancelling the bail but the consequences will be disastrous. We will write about the dishonesty of the accused in the decision.

The counsel Ahsan Bhoon told the court no payment of outstanding amount of Rs 340 million has been made to us so far. The payment regarding land was to be made to us in April 2020 as per agreement.

Khawaja Haris said the payment was stalled due to non fulfillment of the conditions. Three conditions have not been fulfilled as per agreement.

The court while rejecting the plea seeking cancellation of bail of the accused Sheikh Ahmad Latif wrapped up the application.
